If enrolled in the MACP, and my spouse gets reassigned, what are the rules on collecting BAH and living in the barracks?

My spouse is currently on orders across the country with a report date of early next month. My branch can’t get me there at least for another 3 months. Is it possible to live in the barracks and still collect BAH or do I have to find an apartment until I come down on orders?

If you do not have children then you will have to move into the barracks as you will be a GI Bachelor. You could try and get an exception to policy memo to either continue to live in base housing or to get a apartment off post. Definitely get with your S1 to find out the best route to take.

Who is drawing BAH for the child? Your unit could still possibly make you move into the barracks BUT you can put in a exception to policy memo stating you would like to maintain a location for your child to come and stay with you if needed.

You can draw Dual Military BAH but I think you have to have commander's aprroval for anything else and even then Finance will have the yea or nay.
