What is the timeline to get assignment orders after signing contract for active duty?

CPT (Join to see) - Sir, would you mind sharing the timeline of transition from the reserve to the active duty? I submitted my reserve duty packet a couple of weeks ago, but I am also sincerely thinking about transitioning to the active duty. please share your case with me.

It is a long process, but worth it if you are willing to put in the time and effort. Mostly game of patience and luck - I put my packet in MAR 2018 and got orders JUN 2019. In the meantime, I kept attending drills and doing reserve trainings. I would highly encourage you to see if it’s possible with your recruiter to change your packet for active duty, cause if you are thinking about it and don’t do it, you will probably regret it down the road. If you are unable to change from active you will need a BG to sign off on a transfer to active duty unless you play out your reserve contract and then switch over. 2LT (Join to see)

CPT (Join to see) - Thank you for the detail answer. I really appreciate your help. I might as well start off with reserve duty first due to a personal reason. Is it hard to get BG`s okay sign for the transfer to active duty ? (from Reserve 66s to Active 66s) ?
March 2018 ~ Jun 2019 is about a year and three months, which is a lot of waiting time and requires a lot of patience too.
Was the transfer process simpler than the initial commission process? or did you have to start the whole packet again for active duty?

Initial commission process is easier, it took 6 months for my recruiter to get BG to sign my DD368. Either way, I’m glad you decided to serve. Reserves is a good experience but Active Duty is much better for the long run. Hopefully you got a good bonus or incentive to sweeten the ride. What is your AOC
