I am enlisted as a 35M. Married and have a 2 year old. I have been told I will be able to bring my family to DLI but I don’t want to be surprised if that is not true. Are there any soldiers who went to DLI out of AIT and were able to bring their family?

SGT(P) (Join to see) The answer you seek is perishable, do not rely on what was allowed for someone yesterday, never mind last month, year. Ask, but check and verify.
Available room, current Travel and housing business rules, School rules, rank, kids ages, all have a play in it.
You will need to put some trust in the folks creating your orders, the local travel section processing you. And a check on things on the DLI end to confirm.
Dont forget to ask about travel costs, are they covered for your family?., if so how much will it cover it?
If your going to have to live off the DLI campus, what is the current rate and look at what kind of a place that gets you.
Monterey California is not a cheap location to live in. Job opportunities and day care is also not the best.. So consider ALL of the things that go in to bringing your family.
How much will BAS be for you while there, consider local food prices.
Gas prices, all other prices for what it costs to buy, live, enjoy the area.
I grew up in the area, and was stationed there for most of 7 years...It was a treasure spot of the Army for a long time... Im glade I was there when I was a bit better off as a dual military couple of NCO's, and awesome new housing on post.

Yes you PCS with your family.
Be prepared for very long days and being exhausted from learning a new language all day.
You’re family really needs to grasp how demanding that course is.
