Retirees must stop Delta Dental and change to a FEDVIP insurance, does that disqualify you from getting TRICARE or VA services?

I am starting to wonder about the replacement program for Delta Dental and now the new vision program. 1. Will this mean that when you use TRICARE, that you will have to use the insurance and TRICARE and Military Treatment Facilities can kick you out? 2. Does this mean when you go to VA and they ask if you have insurance you will say you have vision insurance they can turn you away? 3. Does this mean that if you have the cheap Vision insurance, you will not get service for a cataract operation? Trying to find the landmines in FEDVIP.

I appreciate you asking this, because we are trying to figure out what this means during open season. I'm following the discussion.

I wish I knew the answers to this SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint. Honestly, I don't think that Tricare would kick you out, though, I know many MTFs will send anyone who is eligible for Medicare/Medicaid downtown (due to an availability issue, and the higher acuity of the patients). As for the VA, that would be a good question to run by your local VSO.

Hopefully, we have VSOs on RP. I do not know a local VSO. I went through VA 18 years ago....

Contact your local American Legion or VFW, and they can tell you who the VSO is for your county.

Pass the questions around and maybe we can find the answer. If I get it from another source, I will post here also. I hope you and others will also.
