SrA (Join to see) According to everything I can find, it would go BELOW any AFSC Occupational Badge.
All of the military services can and do send personnel to the U.S. Army's Air Assault School, but only the Air Force allows for the Air Assault Badge to be worn on the uniform. For several decades only USAF personnel attached to the 101st Airborne Division were allowed to wear the badge, and only at that duty assignment, paralleling US Army policy from 1974 to 1978 for Army soldiers; however, as of the 17 January 2014 update to AFI36-2903 (USAF uniform regulations), U.S. Air Force personnel are authorized to wear the Air Assault Badge along with other special skill badges they have earned through the other Uniformed Services. This means that only the Army and the Air Force authorize their personnel to wear the Air Assault Badge on their uniforms upon graduation of the Air Assault Course.
10.4. Occupational Badges. Air Force members are highly encouraged to wear their current occupational badge on all uniform combinations. A maximum of two occupational badges may be worn. When wearing two occupational badges, wear the one representing the current career field (regardless of level earned) in the top position. Exception: Chaplains and aeronautical badges are always worn in the top position when wearing.

I saw the same black and white as well. Wasn’t sure because I see both Variations here on base. But then I see the Parachutist Badge on people’s chest above AFSV badge, then in the AFI it specifically says it goes above the AFSC badge, even though Air Assault and Parachutisit Badge fall under the same classification

SrA (Join to see) - I wonder if it has something to do w/ the fact that Air Assault is (mainly) an Army badge, but jump wings are issued by Air Force, too? Therefore considered like a "dual-service" type badge?

Actually the latest version of the AFI 36-2903 (2014) specifically applies to the ABU uniform.

I went to AAS when I was in the Army and always wore my AAS badge on my BDU’s. But when the AF changed to ABU’s, they didn’t mention it in the AFI. So I was forced to remove my AAS badge from my ABU’s by my CMSgt. Of course, a year later they amended the AFI and added the AAS badge and other badges to be worn on the ABU’s.

As a side note, the AF authorizes all sorts of badges from other services can be worn on the uniform. Especially Army badges. But I have seen folks with Navy Sea Warfare badges, numerous Army badges from Airborne, Air Assault, CIB, Combat Action Badges, etc...

Since they haven’t come out with a new AFI regarding OCP’s, guys are wearing all sorts of things on their OCP’s. Being in AFSOC, we have been wearing OCP’s stateside for a few years now. The latest trend (that we copied from the Army) is to sew the name tapes, rank, and badges down instead of Velcro. I foresee that as becoming AF policy in a few years.

SSgt (Join to see) - Please, don't get me started on the Air Force and jump wings; I know the Army authorizes them to the USAFA, but it doesn't make it right! And I believe they are to worn as a cadet, not on active duty. My vitriol about this might be dated.

Your primary AFSC badge always goes on top.

So whether you have two AFSC badges, your primary (or current) AFSC badge goes on top. Everything else goes on bottom. The Air Force allows its folks to wear various badges from others services (especially Army). All those other badges always goes below the AFSC badge.

SrA (Join to see) - I stand corrected. Apparently the airborne patch is special. According to AFI 36-2903 (uniform regulation) “Parachutist wings are optional; however, when worn they will be placed above an occupational badge or below a chaplain, aeronautical, space or cyberspace badge.

SMSgt Thor Merich ya I saw that in the reg. Just seems odd the reg favors the Parachutist Badge... is what it is

SrA (Join to see) - What’s interesting (as you pointed out) is that most folks (mostly officers) don’t know the AFI. As I have seen it worn both ways. Honestly, I never paid attention to it before either.

Thanks a lot! Now that I know, I will have to go around correcting folks. LOL
