In the ARNG if you have been on SAD orders for an extended period of time, do you have a "rest" period after coming off orders before you are required to take an APFT?

Soldiers should be able to conduct a diagnostic APFT at any given time and pass regardless of Active or M-Day status. Your command has discretion as to when the APFT is given and should take into consideration the op-tempo of any given mission i.e.: deployment, field operations etc... However, It is on you as the Soldier to maintain your physical fitness at all times. Don't tell me you can't do push-ups, sit-ups and jog in place, do jumping jacks, or bring a jump rope to maintain your cardio vascular fitness for 15 minutes a day during your down time. I tell my new Soldiers to get off that phone and do some PT while they are sitting around. You cannot possibly convince me that any M-Day Soldier does not have 15 minutes a day to do some basic maintenance PT every day.

Quite frankly, it helps to think of the APFT as just another day of fitness training, and for many folks could be considered a relatively light day
