8 years prior service ng 7 months ets'ed currently reenlisting AD. 3 years tis as e5.
My recruiter is telling to expect to be authorized to reenlist as e4. I'm trying to figure out how fast I'll be able to make e5 again. If I come back in as e4 will that set a new tig date?

The rules for enlisted time in grade are found in AR 600-20 Army Command Policy under enlisted date of rank.

So if I understand correctly
Per 600-20 2-20 (4)(b)(3)
It reverts to original date of rank (e4) plus time elapsed since separation? So I'd have some 7 years time in grade?

SGT (Join to see) to be honest, I don't have it in front of me and I find the Parts dealing with a break in service to be very confusing

Actually I'm in the same situation however I already went active duty with a dd form 368. So I should be a specialist however they can't figure out if my time counts

You keep all your Time in Service, Active and Reserve, but your Time in Grade will reset to your new date of enlistment. Last time I checked, 8 months TIG with 4 months eligible for waiver, assuming that you have all the educational things done and no flags.
