I am prior service wanting to return as a 70B. I have my Bach of science in Health and Wellness, 3.88 GPA and everything else seems fine minus my age. I was told there are no waivers for age even though I read that 42 was the max for the AMEDD side. I'm kinda brokenhearted.... Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Due to the very high volume of applicants for 70B typically the Brigade Commander will not entertain waivers for high volume AOCs. While you are correct that the age limit for AMEDD is 42, that mostly applies to clinical professionals not Health Services Officers. There are two age requirements for officers, age for Appointment and Age-in-Grade. I didn’t require an age waiver when I applied (35 was my age) but I did require an age in grade waiver. You can’t be older than 28 as a 2LT. Sorry for the bad news, what is you age currently?

SFC A.M. Drake - I looked it up after I asked. I wouldn't want to work directly for them but I did see an alternative. Very interesting. Thank you for the suggestion.

SPC Jamie S. Not entirely true, but you need to know that OCS does not offer branches in AMEDD. Only three sources Commission Officers into the Medical Department; West Point, ROTC, and Direct Appointment. Seems like an old trick, they are trying to get you to enlist with the promise that you’ll be more competitive for OCS, that’s not true. Being prior service you will be competitive at a board for OCS, but you won’t get branched into any AMEDD branch. I would seek another AMEDD recruiter, stay clear of the enlisted recruiters. Thier mission is to enlist people into the Army, not make them Officers. Whereas AMEDD recruiters only recruiter healthcare officers for both the active and reserve. Check out this website if you have t already.

MAJ Samuel Weber Thank you sir. The recruiting office wasn't referring to the and side, just OCS in general.
It was the AMEDD recruiters that told me no waiver.
Thank you for all your input. It is much appreciated.
