How can a veteran enlist as a new enlistee (not as a prior service)?

I was wondering if I can either gain rank as a civilian so I can re enlist or if I can enlist as a new enlistee ever?

Uh... no... You are going to be characterized as prior service regardless...

Once you’ve exceeded 6 months of service and have a DD214, you’ll always be considered prior service. What benefit do you see to not being prior service? You can’t erase your time in the Military, it’s why recruiters always tell thier applicants that joining is a serious commitment. As for gaining rank as a civilian, that’s not really possible. Unless you persue a professional credential or education (Medicine, Law, or Chaplain) you’ll always require a grade determination prior to re-enlisting. There are a few jobs in the enlisted ranks that you can enter at a higher grade, but again they require training (LPN, etc.) What was your RE Code? That will play a part too. Not many people ETS as PFC.

Roger sir,the only reason why I’m curious is because I got out after only 9 months of service due to a PT failure (RE code 3) so I’ve been out for about a year and a couple of months sir and I’ve been trying tirelessly to enlist back in since my ankle is perfectly fine (I enlisted with a waiver due to metal in my ankle) and the active duty army basically told me that they do not want to take the risk of me enlisting again sir even though I have take 3 different active duty PT test and past all the 3 with a score of 285 so then I tried the navy sir but unfortunately they do not take E2s at the time (I have to change my rank on the forum sir I apologize for the inconvenience that may provide) and I’ve recently tried to get in contact with a active duty Air Force recruiter I understand that if I wanted to enlist this bad I should have never got out sir but with all due respect to my leadership at the time,I was under a toxic command (my SSG made me due a alternative PT test but gave me the wrong passing credentials so I thought I passed it under the right time) if you have any information for me sir that would be greatly appreciated and as far as professional credentials I worked a civilian job as a correctional officer at a juvenile facility for 6 months so I’m not to sure if that helps sir?

That Ms a lot to overcome. I’m sorry that your leadership failed you. Getting out isn’t the end of world, but you have to be realistic when it comes to why you got out, your RE code, and the narrative. Are you looking to go bad active duty? Or have you considered the ARNG or Army Reserve?

The only reason why I want to CSM is because it’s extremely difficult to enlist as a prior service member,unfortunately i got out because of a forced PT test and I have tried tirelessly to re-enlist in any branch truth be told I don’t understand why it is so hard to serve my country for 20+ years CSM

Unfortunately the military looks at the investment for the first term as a loss. They then see the odds of the same person remaining I. Service as low, if that makes sense to you. Keep trying, enlistment policy’s change like the wind.

Its not incredibly difficult. I just went through it. My process was pretty seamless going from Marines to Army reserves a few years back and then reserves to active duty earlier this year
