Every single BCT has Scouts - assuming the MEPS let's you stay a scout, or offers you a base you want.

Almost anywhere you can find Armor (Tanks) or Infantry units there is going to be some kind of unit with scouts. Scouts exist almost everywhere.

I am not an expert. In WWII my Uncle was in the 26th US Cavalry (PS). He got a CIB because, after they ate their mounts,, "they fought as Infantry", got his BS, too. Fast-forward to my conflict in RVN Cav units were getting CIBs in the !st Cav Div and Patton Jrs outfit, the 11thACR, that I know of. Fought as Infantry, you know. Of course, regs were still loosey goosey and, even anyone on a MACV team got CIBs regardless of MOS. That is why you see ADA Os running around with the CIB.
From what I read here on RP, the regs have tightened a bunch and there are a lot of sharpshooters who nail you, if you were wrongly awarded.
So in my inexpert opinion since the fought as infantry exception for Cav has left the regulation, one must be in an Infantry unit of BDE or smaller.
