What do you think of Medal of Honor winners publicly expressing opinions in the media while using their military achievement as leverage?

There is a long history of people leveraging their previous military/public service to support positions about which they are passionate; or to further their personal agendas. We have elected politicians (Washington, Jackson, Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, McCain, Webb, etc) who pointed to some significant prior military service.

The nation gives millions of dollars to Habitat for Humanity because Jimmy Carter leverages his carer as a public servant (military plus state & national office) to support positive outcomes for the community. Celebrities are even more prolific in their endorsements championing literally hundreds of causes.

There is nothing unusual about Sgt Meyer's appearance to support things about which he is passionate. Additionally, he isn't offensive or self supporting in either of these videos. He doesn't manipulate the circumstances to solicit anything for himself as an individual. He makes observations about current events; provides his particular position; respectfully ask for support for something on which most Americans probably already agree (support first responders & military; and don't cave into those who seek to destroy our way of life); and then drives on.

All in all, isn't that what we want those who have leverage to do?

It is clear he isn't speaking for his branch or the DoD.
