I have some questions about re-enlistment.
I'm a active duty 35L SGT(P) attending ALC and will likely make cutoff for E6 in October 2018. At this time, we have a substantial bonus (Tier 8) for E5, which drops down to a Tier 5 for E6.
My current ETS date is sometime in November of 2019. The current Policy Memo states "No Soldier with an FY20 ETS Date (e.g. ETS of 1 October 2019 and later) will enter the ROW at any time during this fiscal year."
My questions: Is there any way I can re-enlist before the beginning of FY19? Can I still re-enlist and recieve the E5 bonus BEFORE being promoted to E6 (assuming I make cutoff for October)?

1. Take it to a retention NCO. 2. If you are in it for the cash, do us a favor and get out.

You read the policy message, right? That's the policy. It also states if you incur an SRR that you're eligible to reenlist as opposed to extend. So if you're on assignment and need to extend, you can reenlist.
Have heart, that bonus message wasn't really for you. There's almost always a new message released around October. You might find something better.

That’s why i was afraid of. My retention said the same thing about the SRR this morning. He did state that they may allow FY20 reenlistment for those within the 15 month window in the very end of this FY. I sure hope they do. That bonus drop from tier 8 to tier 5 is significant.

No, they absolutely will not. Sorry. That's just not the way retention missions are planned at DA.

Quite the issue you face. The issue you face....normally one cannot re-enlist until 365 days (or less) from your ETS. If this still holds true, then it all boils down to the fact if you make cut-off in October or not. As I see it, as long as you don't make cut-off before your 1 year-out window opens, then you should be good to go. If you do make cut-off and receive orders before your window opens, then you will face the Tier drop. Best bet, talk with your Retention NCO to get the best and up-to-date answers.

The current reenlistment window is 15 months out you are eligible. But that policy memo states one can not re-enlist in FY18 if their ETS is in FY20. So even if you are within the 15 month mark, you must wait until FY19 to re-enlist. I plan to call my retention tomorrow, in hopes he actually answers. I talked to another guy who is in the same boat. He said his retention told him that as long as they sign the paperwork before the 1 October 2018 he will get the reenlistment bonus for his current rank. He too will likely make E6 on 1 October 2018.

SGT (Join to see) - Ah. I see that some things have changed for the better. Get on that Retention NCO like a fat kid on a cupcake. I truly wish you the best of luck. "SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!"
