Is it legal to buy or sell ECH helmets? I came back from the middle East with the wrong helmet. I don't think CIF will be pleased with me as I am ETSing soon. I'd like to separate without causing trouble.

If you cannot find out where to purchase the item, CIF will give you a statement of charges and it will be deducted from your pay. A helmet will probably cost you around $300

SFC thank you for your reply. I've found a few online for about $350 but they look to be military issue and that kinda worries me.

The military buys everything that issues from civilians. You can purchase everything that you are issued from CIF, and you can keep anything your issued from CIF as long as you pay for it. It is not illegal to sell or possess ta-50. Just make sure the items that you purchase are the correct ones with the correct NSN. Before you buy one, go to CIF and ask for the price list for the item you lost

It is illegal to sell your TA-50 as it is not your property. You can usually find TA-50 that can be purchased to replace your missing equipment at the local surplus stores or sometimes on the internet.
