I recently went through CRC at Ft. Bliss last month. Has anyone on RP been through CRC prior to their deployment OCONUS? Where was it? How was your experience?
My experience was rather interesting since it has been more than 18 years since I was last in the Army. I got experience barracks life again. I got to go through some familiar, and some unfamiliar Army training. I have to give props to the cadre there.
Feel free to share your experience.

Went through Benning on the way out last year, came back through Bliss. I was really impressed with both locations. Upon returning to Bliss, we had all our gear turned back in and I was on a plane heading back to DC in just a little over 24 hours. Kuwait was another story all together. They were closing Ali al Salem and Arifjahn was a mess. Got stuck there for 5 days on the way out, and I think 3 days or so returning. They didn't even have cages to store your gear at Ali al, and several people had their stuff stolen by locals while sitting around waiting for flights.

I flew out of Benning back in 1991 for Desert Storm. I really liked Ft. Bliss. I was never stationed there when I was in eons ago.
I'm sorry about your experience on Ali al Salem. I'll see if any gear shows up at Friday Market. Kuwait has been OK. I'll share my Kuwait stories later upon my return to the States.

This might be off topic, but did you walk through Freedom Crossing? They have some nice stores there and the movie theater is very affordable.

SSG (ret) William Martin, Freedom Crossing was amazing! I've never saw anything like that when I was in. When I was in, I was lucky to eat at either a Burger King, Anthony's Pizza, or some other exchange sponsored fast food eatery.
After two days straight of going to the DFAC, I spent my time at Denny's, Texas Road House, Starbucks and the Irish Pub. I couldn't believe the other Boutique stores that they had there. Although I didn't catch a movie when I was there, I was impressed by the Multiplex theater on post and all first run films, too. Back in my day (I sound like an old man!), you had one theater and films that were shown had been out for at least six months and were great theatrical gems such as Friday The 13th part VIII, Jason Takes Manhattan.

I remember watching Gladiator after it left the theaters at Fort Stewart. The crowd being mostly Soldiers cheered on Maximus.

There has to be some contractors, DOD civilians or individual service members that have been through.
