So I called Tricare dental to get my wife enrolled but they said that her coverage won’t start until the 1st of September and she’s having major pain in her mouth. She went to a civ Dentist and they said it’ll cost about $2800 for her crown that she needs? Will a dental clinic on post take her before her coverage starts? How does that work?

Call the clinic. You won’t know until you ask. I have never heard of an ID card holder being turned down. Thank you for your service

Normally NO- coverage date is the magic number- they might see her as an emergency case, but it won't get her a crown.

Some dental clinics will see dependents on an emergency basis but their "emergency" treatment is usually remove the affected tooth.
