I'm trying to enroll in classes before the T.A. deadline of September 30th. I have 5 semester hours left of tuition assistance for the fiscal year and am registering for 6 credits (two courses), but when I try to register the second (should be 2 hours remaining of assistance) I get told I have to pay for the whole course. Considering I am taking the courses at UMUC, 750 dollars for the one course is steep. My question is: Is tuition assistance supposed to pay for two of the three semester hours remaining and I pay the last 1 portion? Or does the course HAVE to be exactly the number of remaining credit hours?

I would talk with your local UMUC advisor and GoArmyEd advisor in the education office, however when I was working on my undergrad I remember a few times I was in the same situation and it still paid for it I just had to pay the difference. Your best bet will be talking to the GoArmyEd counselor in person or on the phone and have them sign you up for the class

Is there a military adviser associated with your school? That might be a question for them.

There are. That was going to be my next step if I didn't get any help here. Thanks though, Sergeant!

Yes, the TA will cover the two credits ($250 each) and you are responsible for the difference. Since I started my master's degree, I have always paid the difference because my courses are over $750.
