Have a buddy thats a NCO type that is TDY enroute but reclassifying before getting to his next duty station. He says the course really difficult and not sure if he is gonna make it through. He asked me what happens if he fails the reclassification course, does he go back to his original MOS and does having a failed to achieve course standards on his 1059 hurt him for not completing his reclassification?

Same here , just failed my second test. I’m TDY. I really can’t stay and be recycled because of personal issues at home. I do wonder how this will affect my career overall

1. A failure is automatically for the good of the Service- they will assign him any MOS they want and to any assignment. It will be marked into all his records forever, it could even cause him to be flagged/discharged.

I believe that depending on the needs of the Army, he may go back to his original MOS or they may even send him home. A 1059 that states, "failed to achieve course standards" will certainly hurt your career generally speaking. But not everyone can succeed at everythig, kudos to him for taking the risk and trying something new, that's gotta count for something.
