Good afternoon,
I am trying to find out if its true that 68C get station in either Area 2 or 3 when going to Korea.
I am re-classing to 68C, I have my school projection already but I am trying to get some saying in my follow on assignment.
I was in Korea for my first duty station and really enjoyed the place but it was an unnacompanied tour, this time I am trying to get an accompanied assignment so I get to do all the stuff I wanted to experience with my wife there.
My questions are,
Is it true you get Yongsang or Humphreys as 68C?
Can I call the reclass branch to try and get it locked on or they have no control over that?

And finally just any advice on the subject would be greatly appretiated

Thank you

I’m currently in Korea, at Humphreys. And I’m a 68C. The hospital is currently in Yongsan but will be moving Humphreys eventually. Being a Charlie many slots for our MOS are in the hospital proper, but you may also be assigned to work at one of the many Troop medical clinics elsewhere on the peninsula. Our CSM decides where you’re going once you arrive to hospital integration provided you’re not assigned to directly to Brigade (which is already at Humphreys).

The short is, with you MOS you’re most likely going to be in Area 2 or 3, but that’s no guarantee... but you’ve gotta get orders to Korea first of course.

As SFC Alers said, there are many moving pieces in Korea. The hospital will be moving, hopefully sometime during FY19. In either case, should to get a follow on assignment to Korea, I would encourage you to submit your Command Sponsorship request. There are many vacant CSP positions throughout Korea.

You cannot call reclass branch, it is the training follow on Section that handles assignments yes. In your case, they handle your second phase assignment. After that, it will be up to your 68c assignment manager as to where he will place you. He will place you on a requisition that has a report date of between 30 and 60 days following your graduation. You can update your ask, that is the best chance that you have. Or, if you are able to get ahold of your branch manager before he places you on assignment, you can volunteer for Korea. Branch managers are always looking for Korea volunteers
