Can you get BAH for your dependents while you attend BOLC on TDY?

My husband and I have a 5 month old son and he is currently about to begin ADA BOLC at Fort Sill, OK. We were told that there are 45 rooms meant specifically for families and people with dependents in the Army Hotel, but that we would not be able to place our names on the waiting list until we got there. He is there two weeks earlier than I and has discovered none of these rooms are available and likely won't be available the entire time we will be there. There is no kitchen and not much space. Would we be eligible to receive BAH for my son and I to live off post in an apartment for the duration of BOLC in OK? Would that require a lease to already be set up or could we do that after he has already begun his course?

Because you are NG, you would need to talk directly to your state leadership as they would have to put you on active orders for your time in BOLC. BOLC is not considered a PCS, but is simply a TDY and you will not be able to receive BAH until after your 31st day "activated". I recommend reaching out to your leadership directly

I believe you are getting BAH already, and for the TDY he should have a travel card... Just go to finances and ask, and there are apartment that rent for occasion like that. I got one for 2 month on my way to Fort Huachuca... a apartment is better for you than a hotel.

As a former instructor for ADA CCC talk to the leadership there. I’m sure if the situation is explained then they can work something out. Students were all living off post when I was an instructor.
