Cadet SGT (Join to see) Because they are officers. Officers lead men not go out in individual tasks. The second reason is because the military invests too much money, time and effort to develop their officers. Having them go on sniper missions is wasting that investment. Generally speaking when killing has to be done that’s left to the enlisted ranks. They don’t need officers going out to do sniping. Designated Marksmen and Snipers specialize in that. An officer would be wasted on an individual job.

Snipers were able to go through several years ago as a means to understand how to properly employ that asset under their command. That ended, and the powers that be created a Sniper Employment Leaders Course. I'm not sure if that still exists either, but it might be a good place to start your research.

Not the best use of an officer's time.
