1. You can always request to RST with another Reserve unit, if your Command will allow it. Talk to your Chain of Command & let them know your situation.
2. Transfer into the IRR, then you can transfer to any other Army Reserve unit or National Guard unit in your state even. You can even deploy from the IRR with a unit that's going oversees if you qualify.
3. The Army reserve provides both the Lodging in Kind Program (LIK) and the IDT Travel Program in DTS, where you can put into receive reimbursement for driving or even renting a car for drill. It might take a couple months to get your money- but if you put it in you will get paid (especially if you're a junior Soldier).

I wish the Guard had a program like that. It would’ve been nice to have been reimbursed for the year and a half that I had a 400 mile round trip for drill.

I was only in the reserves for a very short time between active enlistments, but if memory serves, I think they have to approve it if you live more than 100 miles from the unit if a closer unit exists. This may be dependent on your MOS and available slots in the receiving unit.

SSG (Join to see) - Now the reserves will reimburse up to $500 per month, per Soldier. It is not an entitlement like regular travel pay, but IDT travel pay will reimburse soldiers for travel expenses, i.e. mileage and hotel costs. As long as you have the Commander's memo and upload your receipts to DTS as a local voucher you will be reimbursed. Junior Soldiers will usually be paid first, based on funding availability. It might take a month or so to get paid, but most Reserve commands will pay IDT travel.

I can't tell what you're trying to ask. Are you assigned to a unit that's 500 miles away? Whatever the case, you need to speak with your chain of command ASAP.

PFC (Join to see) - Can you contact your old chain of command and see if they can help? The last thing you want is to just not show up.

Log onto the HRC portal.
Go to Tools, Vacancy Search and find a unit closer to your house. Even if they don't have an open position, use the contact info and see if they will accept you anyway.

If you are forced to travel for drill, you can submit IDT travel vouchers for travel over 150 miles and they'll reimburse you up to $500.
