I am in the process of going active duty. My conditional release has been approved from the reserves and have already started working with my recruiter. But my question is that I was told I need a waiver and now they say I have to get 70% in each event to go active. Not just a passing score. Is this accurate?

The question is what do you offer to the Army. If you already have a RE3 then you are not really a priority. Usually the Army will only take those that need waivers in times of need. If the Army is meeting their goals then they won't bother. If you had issues already then the Army won't want to deal with it. I am not trying to be negative but that is the reality of situation.

Good Grief, NO one is interested in you just passing, hell many units would stomp you for 70 in each event.

I initially enlisted in the USAR as a 13B and often had to deal with my weight and at times passing the PT test. 35 years later as a regular Army LTC I recommend you set your goals higher and train to score at least 80 in each event. that means running 4-7 miles at least 3x per week. Maxing out pushups and situps 3x per day and counducting other physical activites to increase your strength and stamina. you must change your life habits to support your goals. its not easy but it is a matter of choice.

Thank you sir for this.
I can't tell you that I have already changed some of my life. I can tell you that I was about 275 before and since then lost about 50 lbs. I have made better lifestyle choices as well in my family so that we are eating healthier. I've come a long way since then. I am very much looking forward to active duty to help with solidifying my progress.
