I am preparing for the upcoming SFC promotion board and am stuck on something in reference to the marksmanship badge. I am currently in a student status following a recruiting tour of 3 years. I haven't qualified with a weapon in almost 5 years. Should I: A) Remove the qual badge from my uniform and ERB; B) remove the qual badge from my uniform and keep it on the ERB so the board can see my last qual; or C) leave both the badge on the uniform and the ERB? Thanks

Haven’t qualified in five years? I don’t think you can even call yourself a soldier

SFC (Join to see) Unless it has changed, board members do not see or really care about when you qualified last, so I would leave the badge, but ensure that it's correctly placed in the uniform.

you know, during my entire career i don't think i ever wore a marksmanship badge( save for BCT). we qualified all the time, and went to the range just as often. top used to have a roster called "Tops "top shots" " for everyone to see, i made it once or twice but i digress.

It shows on the record brief the last qualification including the weapon type the score and the date qualified. And the only thing I can find in any reg is that it says if you're exempt from qualifying, such as being in a student status, then you do not wear marksmanship badges. So why I was asking, is because I am not sure if it would make a difference in the DA photo.

I say wear it, you qualified to wear it & that qualification has not changed until you qualify again
