I am a USAR soldier who is considering volunteering for a deployment. During AIT I realized that a small part of me would miss Active Duty (especially knowing that AD would be much better outside of AIT), and then I heard about Reserve component soldiers being able to volunteer for tours. I kept it in the back of my mind because I decided I'd rather focus on going to school and pursuing a commission through ROTC. At my unit (my 2nd or 3rd drill), my squad leader told me I should have gone Active Duty and encouraged me to do a tour. My PSG has even indicated he thinks I'm doing well. So before I can even continue to weigh my options, I'd like to look at what positions are available. I've tried to go to MOBCOP but the site is down, and HRC's Tour of Duty page isn't there anymore. Anyone know where else I can find information about tours? Anyone I can talk to? If possible, I'd like to avoid my S1 because my Company only has one newly promoted E5 (we have two unfilled 42A slots) so she tends to get busy. Thanks for the help.

MOB cop will only work if you're on a military computer at your Armory or on a military base that has its own dedicated computer system. It will not work from home like it used to. I won't be able to check on mob cop even though I'm also on it. It is really frustrating. This started happening a few months ago. I guess it's been hacked too many times. The only good thing is you can put your choices active-duty, temporary active duty or ados orders selection. They will send you an email if they are looking at you as a candidate. You won't be able to look and see what's available unless you're on a dedicated system on a base or at an Armory.

Thank you for telling us about the other site. Tour of Duty has 4,000 positions open and I'm shocked I can actually look this up on my smartphone. Too bad Tour of Duty was not like that website PFI.

Ah, the PFI program. Excellent program. Participated in it, and used it extensively (brought on a lot of other reservists and NG types).

If your squad leader is telling you to take a tour, then ask him/her to help you. I cannot say about the current time frame, but when I was a Unit Administrator in the 88th RRC we had a mob officer we could call and give him the soldiers MOS, etc and if there was a unit deploying that had a shortage to fill he would find volunteers first then cross levels next to fill it.

Roger SSG. I'll bring it up. Not that it matters but my unit is actually subordinate to the 88th

I cannot say who the MOB officer is now, but they should still have one. I was in the 380th down in Evansville, IN and we had several put in for orders back in 2006-2007 for tours.
