Can I get my BAS rather than getting a meal card because I am vegan?

I have heard you can I just don’t know how to go about doing this. I am currently on a post that does not have a DFac so I get my BAS already but I am about to PCS and I refuse to eat a DFac because they are not accommodating enough to my food choices. When I was in BLC I would lose about 5 pounds a week (weekends off so I actually ate real food) because all I could eat was rice and steamed vegetables or salad... someone told me I need to see a nutritionist to have to be verified is this true? I have been vegan 8 months this isn’t just a cop out to get my BAS it’s a legitimate concern of mine.

Good question.. Maybe you can see if you can get your BAS for religious reasons possibly? I can't remember off the top off my head, but the army can accommodate your dietary preference based on religion. I hope this can point you in the right direction. I can get you in the neighborhood, just not to the door..lol..

As a commander I gave approval, but don’t remember if it was a memo or form I filled out.
