I was researching the possibility of getting a chance to attend RASP 1 as a 35N. I had seen that the 75th is adding a 5th bn for MI so I did a little digging into the possibility of an opt 40 contract. From what I've seen, it looks like I cannot get that on my contract for enlistment due to my medical waiver (ache waiver).
So my question is this, is that a fact? Or is this like googling your symptoms when you're sick and it gets you thinking you've got cancer?

If not, how would I convince my recruiter to add the option? I have not signed anything yet as I'm still waiting for my waiver to be approved

Are they really that chickenshit today. I went to war with acne. Sure as hell didn't need a medical waiver. 2 purple hearts and 22 months later I still had it.

Volunteer for airborne. Pass that and you can volunteer for Ranger Regiment.

You can’t get OPT 40 if you have a med waiver.

You can try to get it from within Army, just not in your initial contract. It is possible down the road in the Army.
