I am currently in the midst of a FCP chapter and I’ve tried to do research but have turned up blank on how much they pay you for each day of leave that u sell back. I signed paperwork without realizing what it meant and now I can’t take it as terminal leave. I have to cash in. Just wondering how they calculate the money they give you for your leave.

SPC (Join to see) 1/30 of your basic pay for each day of leave you sell back.
So look at your last LES, look at your base pay before tax, and do not add in any additional pay and benefits, just basic pay.
divide by 30, multiply that times number of days leave and then subtract taxes. In general 25% for federal tax and your home of record state tax rate for state taxes.

If you think about it logically, selling your leave is ALMOST always the better way to go. For more than 1 reason. Such as, 1. Your getting EXTRA money for days you didnt spend on leave so if you think about it, if you sell 22.5 days, thats 22.5 days PAST your ETS date you essentially get paid. 2. If you want to take advantage of some of the free ETS classes they have, as long as your commander will let you, this gives you the ability to do classes on the Militaries dime, on the Militaries time, until you leave the Army, and then selling 22.5 days is an added bonus.
The only other thing i can think of where you want to take leave is a situation where if they are going to make you go to training events or they denied your school papers. If your willing to fight those, which you can, than yah taking the leave would be best because your CoC quite literally just wanted to fuck you over that way. I've heard that they can also deny your terminel leave too so their is that.

Sort of true, except you are only being paid your BASE pay, when you sell back leave. This will not include additional pays you may normally receive like housing allowance, BAS, COLA, hazard pays, etc.
Take a look at your LES and the difference between your TOTAL pay and your base pay. If the difference is an sum you can live without, then sell back the leave. Otherwise, you get paid your FULL paycheck while you are on terminal leave AND take advantage of all the benefits and rights of being on active duty.
