Depending on what you would want to claim as a religious status. Let them know if there is any special days that are claimed as holy days.

Go to personnel and tell them you want to make changes to your ERB on any item that has to do with your religion.

You can claim any religion you want, but be prepared for a lot of questions if you claim unusual needs or exemptions based on that religion.

"But sir, I am an XYZ and we can only work on calendar days divisible by 7."

As Maj John Bell said, expect questions if it isn't a commonly known religious denomination.

I went to my first unit's S1 back in 2010 and fixed it from (this is memory and this part is hazy) non-denominational to Wicca. Wicca has been on my dog tags since I joined back in 2008 and oddly enough I assumed the ERB wasn't up to speed like dog tags were. My NCO taught me that it was a clerical error that can be fixed. And got it done, after lots of questions to my faith.

As for days of worship where I needed to be away from the unit, I literally wrote an MFR to my Commander to explain the purpose of one or two days of worship are for and my intentions on those days so it wasn't presumed as goofing off. My Commander laughed, said it wasn't necessary to go that over board but she also asked me various questions about my faith. For me it was great experience.

ERB and Dog Tags are different as SGM Bill Frazer mentioned. You can put virtually anything on your dog tags, but your ERB has to follow one of the codes provided by Capt Gregory Prickett. That said, you can speak with your Chaplain if you feel that your religious preference is not included in the list and he or she will be able to give you further guidance. Best of luck!
