When you travel to another state, do YOU get information about units in that area?

With the elevated threat against service members, I would like to know; do you think service members should reach out to units where they are traveling and just make contact? Should those units respond, if so, how?

SSG (Join to see), I do not reach out to military units. I would find that odd (for me), but if my unit (I still work for the Army) were reached out to in this way, I'm sure we would respond that the individual is welcome to stop by if necessary or if in danger. It just seems odd (different) to me, probably because I would reach out to authorities - police, for example - if I felt my life were in danger.
