Sgt Amanda Nicole I went into the Camp Pendleton Exchange and asked if I could shop there. They told me that you have to have a 100% VA Disability rating. Below is information from the exchange about access:

You should get in touch with personnel at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to find out what you have to do to have VA certify your disability.

If VA certifies you as having 100% disability in connection with military service, VA will send you a letter indicating that you are entitled to commissary privileges. You must take this VA letter to a Pass and ID Office on a military installation to have ID issued that will authorize you to shop in commissaries.

Commissary personnel cannot allow you to shop unless you have Department of Defense ID that authorizes commissary privileges

You get issued MWR cards from any RWPIDS facility, for you and spouse, dependent kids, I don't know about, they're obv not CACs, they're actual IDs, beige or tan in color, plastic, with a photo, the same basic ID type as I'd had when I was in, the green plastic one, my mext younger brother was USNR, he had a red one...that's basically how it works, also, make sure you ask about S-DVI, the life insurance for 100%, for family, and CHAMPVA, not tTRaiCARE...depending on how long yours took to process, you should, I think, he able to get retroactive CHAMPVA benefits for spouse and/or possibly also dependent kids, back to the original VA-disability claim submission date, getting copays after your 100% award date becomes more problematical, clinical facilities have to make certain to explicitly list how much copay you gave them, some give you the shtick about not doing copays while the CzhAMPVA processes, I never liked to do that for my wife as doing that leaves bills open, but that's me, obv...also, if you've got a secondary insurance, other than a Medicare, electronic rollover to CHAMP VA isn't possible, he oher insurances have to process completely first, then a HCFA 1590 has to go to CHAMPVA in Denver by snail mail, hat I know for certain, only once have we gotten back a copay after he award date for me, the rest, you have to really track down, you've gotta call every single clinical facility individually, one by one...when we did the CHAMPVA for my wife it was well worth it, hough we needed to get, I kid thee not, 10000, you read right, 10000 pages of documentation to get everything, the CHAMPVA staff said it took the record for the single most detailed retroactive CHAMPVA claim in their history, we had to send them two full boxes of paper by USPS Express Mail, they needed something like six to eight tables to sort through it alp, it took them a couple of months, however, as I said, it turned out to be well, well worth it I kid thee not...you need to give alp clinical offices he PO Box and zip code, the last digits can morph as CHAzmPVAmhas something like 10 PO Boxes in Denver, also always giventyhe CahAMPVA toll free phone...once, also, we did have a claim go to TRICARE (formerly CHAMPUS) by mistake, but only once, hope that all helps, if you've got other questions, ask, I'll try to answer, so far as I can, I'm total perm disabled, it's involved, however, it can be done with some patience, our claim for me took six and a half yearsnto process from start to finish....

And the insurance isn't SGLI or VGLI, it's S-DVI, totally different, you get a basic policy paid for by Congress, you can opt for more within a specific time limit, I think 3 yes, the extra gets auto deducted from the monthly VA-spdisavility allotment when it's sent to a bank electronically, a lot of people confuse SGLI.VGLI. with S-D VI, trust me, totally different....

And aside from vet groups or law school vet law clinics, these, guys, NOVA, are, to my way of tinking, the nest, just give whatever retainer their guys need, then sit back and do exactly what they say, promise, you'll soon find out there's a very real reason God invented lawyers, honest....
