do you HAVE to re-register your car when you get to Hawaii? for example, I just bought a new car...it's going to have Texas plates. I want to get custom Texas plates. But will Hawaii REQUIRE me to re-register in Hawaii? Or can I keep Texas?

Yes, you have to have that safety inspection sticker there at all times, or you will get a ticket.  Also be careful with how much tinting you have on your windows.  I had to pay to get mine removed because they wouldn't pass me on the inspection.  An old Mustang looks a lot less cool without that tinting. :-)
