Republican Leadership, Good or Bad?

Neither party with their present leadership is good for this country. There are some very good people in both parties that are powerless because of their party’s long standing leadership. The recent election just changed the flag from Democrat to Republican. That ought to make most Americans jump for joy, but it does not for several reasons. Why do well-to-do people spend millions of dollars to get elected to a $174,000 job that guarantees them a large pension? It is all about power and self-serving politicians. The longer they serve, the more damage they do to our government. It was never intended to be a full time job. Term limits are necessary, along with cutting out pensions, and we should be screaming loud and clear to demand it. The Democrats have always stated that they are the party of the poor. Since the great depression, the poor have continued to become more poor as the cost of living has increased, and the population has risen. You would think the poor would have figured this out by now, yet they still continue to vote to remain slaves to the Democratic party. Together with policies that dish out taxpayers hard-earned money to support those who fail to lift a finger to help themselves, and the constant drone of "the Republicans are starving your children and poisoning the air and water" is an old and worn out strategy doled out by politicians who have spent too much time taking our country apart. On the Republican side, the leadership is weak in both houses. In my opinion, they more closely resemble Republicrats who love to talk a big game but continue to make under the table deals with Democrats. They are in power now, yet they look helpless to go after a President who continues to do things that raise eyebrows. It would be an amazing thing if both houses and a president actually worked together to solve our immigration problem; secure our borders; revamp the IRS and revise the tax code to make it an all pay in (flat tax or similar) where no one gets a special deal because of who they are or what they do); put more power back into state governments to improve education; stimulate the economy by taking the burden off of small business, the true economic engine of the US; put medical care back into the competitive market so premiums would come down and you could actually keep your doctor; and minimize the interference that our founding fathers warned us about with an out of control big government mentality. Finally, the press needs to be held accountable for their siding with one party or another. When you turn on the tube today you don't hear about all of the issues that are ongoing where the President has taken liberties with our system without proper representation from the people. He is as guilty as anyone in our government today and has in my own opinion shirked his responsibility and authority. He talks a big game, also, but when you go golfing after an American is beheaded, or you go campaigning instead of monitoring overseas situations where Americans are attacked, it makes this veteran angry that he does not take care of Americans in harms way. Putting our hard earned tax dollars into Climate Change is a futile effort. The climate does change… we know that. Trying to play God is beyond man’s reach. Mother nature has taught us as much. Until order is restored by getting term limits installed and reducing the wing span of our federal government, we will continue to waddle and waste away in government overreach and inefficiency to a bunch of self-serving hypocrites.

Politicians are politicians. While I truly believe that most, down deep in their hearts, want to do the right thing for their constituents and the country, they are, nonetheless, politicians and want to be re-elected. It is balancing act that is constantly in play.

I think there should be term limits, with no career politicians, so they could concentrate more the country's business and less on re-election.

Having known John Boehner since 1978, working with & for him in his early congressional years I will only say that the Speaker the country sees today is very different from the man I interacted with back then. It is not a comment he is very fond of hearing but I believe it is true.
