Do you have your orders already? If you're in a company then you'll do what everybody is doing, probably go on VIP missions, train civilians and foreign military, etc.. If you have orders already you should be getting a sponsor, you can get all the info you need as far as day to day from your sponsor

“The island of Oahu has been utilized for military training for over a century. Currently there exists large quantities. . .”

First, congrats on probably the best assignment you’ll ever get. In a former life as an Infantryman at Schofield we were training in the Kahukus. We were playing the bad guys for a sister battalion to attack. After a completing movement and before digging in a buddy and I did a rucksack flop in a ditch. About 30 seconds into our breather a new kid walked up and pointing in between us asked “What the fuck is that?” He looked to his left about a foot and a half and I looked to my right about a foot and a half. 60mm mortar sticking out of the side of the ditch. EOD showed up (eventually) and blew it in place.

Makua Valley has a trench system we trained on fairly regularly One trip we had a brand-new to the Company, first time out-of-the Quad Private. He had been performing fairly well but was still new so was been watched very, very closely. Live-fire time comes and he throws his first live frag into the bunker he and his team are responsible for. Time goes by, no bang. More time, still no bang. “Private, are you SURE you pulled ALL of the safeties?” EOD gets the call and shows up (eventually). Dude goes in and finds a sure enough, actual, honest to goodness, no foolin’ dud and blows it in place.

Some guy on Schofield “collected” one of those inert anti-tank training mines and left it behind in housing when PCS’d/ETS’s/whatever. The housing people show up todo whatever they do to get it ready for the next family to move in and find it. EOD gets the call and shows up (eventually). It would have been way cooler if they blew it in place.

It’ll be what you make of it but you’ve certainly been dealt a winning hand.
