I can only hope that our European Allies are taking this threat seriously and will find and stop the perpetrators.

This scenario has always been a possibility. "Dirty" bombs have always been a very real and distinct 'next step' to create havoc and terror among the populace. While not a long term issue - the mere mentioning of "radioactive device" can strike fear in the illiterate and unlearned.

To be quite honest a dirty bomb can be made from a ton of easily accessible devices that has radioactive material. The good thing is that these devices do not have the fallout of a real WMD. But terror created by them is real.

True, the fear created by the unknown factors when mentioning radioactive material is real. However, the potential major threat is minimal. This type of event is precisely what terrorist seek - easily conducted attacks to create a sense of fear.

Knowledge is the answer.
