I have had a conditional release pending for the last 6 months and trying to get any information is next to impossible. The last update I heard was it was on the signing authorities desk. However when I ask about it through my chain of command, I get told that it's still in process.
Is there anyway I can speed this process along?

Conditional release packets are notorious for how slowly they move through the CoC.
Having said that, 6 months is pushing the bounds of what should be acceptable.
My opinion is that these delays are not accidental. I know of many such packets that have been withdrawn or missed the opportunity to go for what they wanted because of this kind of delay.
First thing to do is get an appointment with (or have your FLL get) the S-1 to determine the exact status of your packet. Every command I have ever seen has a tracker for such things, along with when it was logged in.
The IG is an option, but I would caution you that a CR is a REQUEST, not a right. I believe they owe you an answer, but not every GO or Colonel feels the same way. Going to outside the CoC avenues of redress tends to draw fire.

Use your CoC, and ask them to engage on your behalf.

So is my best option really the IF card at this point?

I want to let you know 1SG HEALY.
I contacted the IG in my command today and set up an inquiry. Hopefully we will know soon what's to come of it.
But I have to say doing it this way I'm still scared for the outcome.
