My branch told me that they will not release me for recruiting due to our MOS being under strength. Is there anything I can say or do to convince my branch to release me for Recruiting? I just want to thank everyone in advance for those of you who will take their time to answer this for me.

The only one who can effect the change you seek is recruiting section up at branch.
If they want you they can have you, BUT the SMA has historically given DS and recruiter branch (no, not really a "branch) their marching instructions. So they may very well have been told, hands off understrength MOS's
Historically, low density and understrength MOS's were not often chosen for DA detailed recruiter or DS duty.. But have seen it happen anyway...SF guy gets DS orders, 15T, 15U gets recruiter detail orders..

Your best course of action is to keep contact with recruiting section at branch, perhaps one day when the SMA is chewing ass for them not getting enough folks into DS slots, one of them will blurt out .. "SMA, if you would let use the qualified ones that want to go, like that SSG Encabo that calls every month, we could make mission"

Roger SGM. Hopefully one day, sooner rather than later, I will be able to get DA Selected.

Unfortunately, looks like you might be out of luck for the time being. If the MOS is understrength, then Big Army is needing to keep those people where they are.

I kinda figured, SSG. I knew it was a slim chance of finding something, but I thought I might have just a little luck of finding that one person who experienced this issue and overtook it.

Big Sarge I just recently sent my Outreach NCO a Volunteer Recruiter packet. He got back to me today and said it is under review. How long did it take for you to hear back from USAREC once they got your packet?

How are you doing SGT. It took a couple of months for USAREC to get back to me, but I have met some NCOs that have gotten a response in a couple of weeks. Roger, the Outreach NCO normally CCs the applicant. If the Outreach NCO did not CC you, just let them know that you would like the email forwarded to you.
