Hey everybody. I'm trying to do some research into the relations/tension between China and Taiwan since I'm minoring in asian studies and learning mandarin. I'm trying to go super in depth looking into the culture/government/politics/etc.<div><br></div><div>I could use a help finding a place to start. It's such a broad topic to start off on and I need help narrowing my search to something more specific to branch off of. I also don't really know where to begin researching. </div><div>If anyone has done similar research or looked into similar topics and knows of some good sources I can use to start my research, that would be awesome.</div><div>I want to treat it as I know almost nothing on the topic/culture/etc. because I really don't know too much to begin with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.</div><div><br></div>

You can start with the 1971 U.N. resolution that denounced the Republic of China (Taiwan) and replaced them with the People's Republic of China. This also transferred the permanent position on the U.N. Security Council from a nominally Democratic leadership to the Communist Leadership, shifting the global power balance.<br>Either that, or you can go back to the start of the Chinese civil war Oct, 1949.<br>
