ASK was down for several months. It was kind of in and out over the years to begin with. I have used it with success to requisition the assignment I am currently in... so it works, with regard to that. But when something goes down for a few months I thought it would be a new, user-friendly, more functional, or at least visually different site. Can anyone tell me what has changed in the update. Not trying to be funny I just don't notice any changes.

I received an email stating that they were trying to test the sites ability to handle heavier than normal traffic from 11-13 April. Against all odds, the site was down today!

I assume you mean Assignment Satisfaction Key. We never had anything like that. The best we could hope for was a buddy in personnel! (Is Army Satisfaction Key and tongue-in-cheek statement?) Again, as I mentioned in an earlier post, here we have yet more acronyms.
According to HRC, part of the EPMD, (yet more acronyms) ASK means ASK was developed to increase Soldier participation in their assignment process. I think the buddy in personnel was much better. Oh, and we did have our "dream sheets." They worked really well, if you knew how to use them. After AIT and the whole OCS thing, I prepared my dream sheet indicating Vietnam as my first choice and don't recall my #2 and 3 choices. The Army responded by giving me orders for Vietnam then on the very same day all our Vietnam orders were rescinded, replaced by orders providing yet another 30 day leave. We were to expect orders to our next duty station while on leave (sent to our address of record.) I did finally see my new orders, KOREA - WTF (another acronym) where and what is Korea? Sobeit, learning point. When I was nearing the end of my first 13 month tour in Korea I completed another dream sheet. By this time I had become accustomed to the easier, softer duty station (we only had one formation, not inspections and none of the regular army BS {another acronym}, I had met a lot of guys that were stationed either stateside or Germany so I was aware of how good (relative term) we had it. My dream sheet told the Army I wanted to go to Vietnam, Korea or Korea. When I was called in to discuss my next duty station I was told that I could not do back to back hazardous stations without a minimum of six months in CONUS (acronym) so in order to send me to 'Nam I would need to reenlist! Therefore, I stayed in Korea an additional 13 months. The thing that made all this to Armyesque is that when my DEROS (acronym) came up I was given what the military was calling an "Early Out." So, with 4 months left of my original enlistment I was sent home and ETSd (yep - acronym!) while the draft was rolling along at its highest level since WWII - maybe someone can explain that. Release all the guys with 2 plus years of service, training and experience 6 months early yet draft new guys to train and prepare for the Army life, by the thousands. Makes sense, trade-in experienced personnel for FNGs...

The server is now capable of handling a higher volume load. At least, that's what I read today.
