"The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war". Boot camp is to prepare you for further training, to go to war as a US Marine. You may even think WW III has broken out for the first few days/weeks. Get ready by working hard. Run, calisthenics, wind sprints, circuit course runs. Upper body strength. Push ups and pull ups. Lots of them. Get your mind right to never quit, no matter what. That's key. Stay close to your Recruiter and heed his advice. Attend all pool functions. Good luck.

Chris Ford 50 years ago, this June, I went through Boot Camp at MCRD, San Diego. Below are two links that will help with the requirements that you should strive for. Eat good balanced meals, drink plenty of water, and perform stretching exercises before you exercise. Also work on your swimming. Build up your endurance gradually so you do not injure yourself. Being in good shape will help, but make sure that you can handle the mental aspects of Boot Camp. Please keep us posted.
