Women in the military: how do you feel about other service members (of all branches) in uniform (higher or lower ranking) catcalling women (in or out of the military)?

Well its never OK, but I just never understood catcalling. I'm not sure any woman has been picked up with a catcall, usually talking to women like they're humans is the best way to get a date.

SPC David Willis - Oh, I cat call my wife routinely. I think at least once a day she hears "How you doin?" from me. I don't think that counts though.

It is disrespectful in or out of uniform, but brings discredit to the member's service when a uniformed member does it. I have no problem calling people out for it, and have done so on a couple of occasions.

SSgt (Join to see) - I response I picked up from another senior enlisted man was.. a quite, almost whispered ...
" You know thats someone's daughter, someone's grand daughter.. right?"
"Would you be ok with someone doing that to YOUR daughter?"
"Are you willing to look her father in the eye and say that stuff about her infront of him?"

SSgt (Join to see) - no, actually, there is never a wrong time to correct a bad behavior, even if the member out ranks you. The trick is tact. You can't just call them out in front of a crowd, but pull them to the side, and let them know (unless they are doing something that puts themselves or someone else in harms way).

SSgt (Join to see) - I guess if someone is shooting at you... or breaking ranks while in formation may be one of the few times it may be inappropriate. However, the formation leader should "field strip that butt" if time permits. The rest of the time, if it is a senior, they just abandoned their rank. Keep it professional, keep it calm, but by all means let them know they can "pack sand" and that they have not heard the end of this.

By the way, men can be a victim of being catcalled as I have been catcalled while working in my yard or when I used run outside. I am not saying I am all that but I am in shape for my age.

I posed the question to the women as we seem to be the largest percentage of those that get cat called, but you are absolutely right.
