Did we just get tricked into going to war with Syria?

Here's my theory/question... Was the gas attack in Syria days after President Trump said we were pulling out a false flag event to get us involved in another 15 year COIN war to continue to degrade our air defense capabilities and keep us behind the curve in a possible future peer-to-peer/near-peer conflict with Russia/China/Iran? Thoughts?

The point of this being??? That we are easier to conquer? What kind of sense does that make?

CPT (Join to see) i think that we continue to fight these wars because America has a strange collective hero complex. If we were to leave the situation alone then the populace would say that our leaders were heartless and uninterested but when we go to war there are those who scream warmonger. I think its a damned if you do damned if you dont situation and we might as well be damned for doing something good. As far as if it is planned to slow our development to make us an easier target, I truly believe that we are leaps and bounds in front of the rest of the planet as far as practical use of technologies in war. Even moreso, we have proven before that the spirit of the American service member can beat out far superior forces regardless of the tools at their disposal.
SFC Stephen Atchley Frankly, I could not care less about Russia annexing a damn thing in that part of the world... The countryis already so large that it is bound to fall apart; it is like a modern roman empire. It will fail.
SSG Alan Pelletier I really don't see how my response was confusing. But okay...

SGT Joseph Gunderson - I don't particularly care, either. The nations that are NATO members probably care.

Wars are fought by a select few, but they stress the entire country. To begin with we cant just keep spending money on wars... we just cant. Wars also create more unrest and distrust of the government. The highest trust in our government within the last 30 years was probably on 9/12/2001 and its plummeted since then. I really don't believe our country could realistically sustain 30 continuous years of continual engagement and come out OK.

Not to mention, if Trumps tweet is to believed and his idea is to bomb the Assad regime and its military to rubble that'll just open the door for ISIS 2.0...

Isn't that what you would do?
Keep your neighbors occupied with each other over insignificant events the whole while you're downtown working with the "planning committee?" If so, brilliant strategy...
Otherwise, Assad probably did gas his own people hoping the US would stay. War is profitable for those with the money and power to wield their own ideals. No war, no money.
I recognize this is a bit nihilistic but so long as we don't know the full story what other conclusion can we come up with?

The money aspect of the whole thing is really interesting. I've been talking about this with my banker friend and he remarked that the only two countries not involved with the World Bank are Syria and North Korea. Could this be an attempt for the World Bank to finally get one of their last two targets indebted to them? If they don't have any money to be able to fight the U.S., they're going to have to get money from somewhere.

The original members of the original Research and Development Team (not called RanD at the time) concluded that the only truly effective way to initiate social change was war. Almost all of those members committed suicide after. Add some "social strife" and almost immediately a war breaks out. Took 911 to convince Americans to give up a slew of rights. For you conspiracy guys!
As for the NCO's commenting in this thread I'm a bit disappointed by their lack of warriorship attitudes. Seems a bit passive and weak in response to their own Country. Wonder if they're the first to complain about this country but lack the courage to do anything about it...

Syria is a complex situation. For years the US has been attempting to install democracy in Syria. However, this is complex as the Kurds, Rebels, Russia, Israel, Turkey, Assad forces, US, and ISIS forces have interests in the country.
