Is this job boring? Do you have to sit and listen to radio communication for 8-10 hours per day?

A cryptologic Linguist is like a 35N, but still waiting for points to come down below 600. And waiting, and waiting.. Usually has a high GT score but would rather not talk about it. Retention is spurious at best

Depending on where you are stationed it can vary from 4 hour shifts to 12 hour shifts. 35P in a line unit can be frustrating unless you have a good platoon sergeant that schedules classes to keep you up to date on technology. Working in a strategic environment will keep you busy with your job and potentially making a real difference in the world. In both cases, during downtime you need to be working on your foreign language skills. I loved my job for all 20 years that I served.

There are several things that you could do. That is one of them. It really depends on what assignment you get. There are strategic and tactical assignments, and those are extend different from each other, and then there are special mission units and special forces, which both have extremely different jobs. Every unit has different equipment, so you will pretty much need to learn new stuff at each unit, but, if you like technology, it is a very fun job.
