How does getting orders work? How does getting an assignment work?

My guess, based on your MOS, the detailer knows where he/she wants to send you, and its a high speed, low drag billet. But if they told you and then couldn't send you, they'd have to erase any sign that you, your family, and anybody that has met you ever existed. :)

P.S. The erase part was just a joke.

Your MOS doesn't require a clearance so it's most likely one that was initiated at the MEPS. It doesn't mean that you're going to a special assignment as you were probably already granted an interim clearance from the start. Because you're an IET student you will just wait around until the Cadre hand you your orders. You can give your assignment manager at HRC a call. He may have a few choices for you. But, as someone pointed out, you're a low density MOS, there aren't many slots, you will go wherever they need to fill a hole. But, having a clearance you may get assigned to an SF group and you'll be given a chance to go to Airborne school
