I've got some knowledge in that area, here's what you're going to want to do.
1. Go to your local recruiter and ask for a (DD FORM 368)
This form is called a, "Request for Conditional Release."
2. Once you and your recruiter fill out the form you need to get it to your Squad Leader/Platoon Sergeant.
3. They will submit to your NCOIC who will send it up the Chain of Command.
4. Once it is approved, you will be, "released" from your reserve unit.
CAUTION: Just because it has been granted, doesn't mean you're good to go yet! You will still continue going to Battle Assembly or Drill until everything is done.
5. Go back to the recruiter with all of your approved documents
6. Once everything is done it will seem like you're joining for the first time. You'll see what jobs are available to you as prior service (in the reserves some rules apply). You'll go back to MEPS, and after all is done you'll be assigned a new Duty Station.
That is in a nutshell the process. Good luck to you!

As PO3 Tomasitis said, your higher command should have some officer or civilian in charge of deployments. Now the demand is not as high as it used to be. But his job is to find soldier to fill empty slot of units preparing to deploy. When I was a UA back in 2007 I had a Sergeant who wanted to deploy, I walked him down the hall to my supervisor, who asked the young man are you sure, the Sergeant said yes, we called the RRC and two weeks later he was on orders.

What PFC Pavlock stated is correct. I just submitted mine to my chain of command yesterday. I would recommend speaking to an Active Duty recruiter and getting the DD Form 368 from your recruiter prior to your next Battle Assembly. This process takes a while and does go as far as a 1-3 Star general and is not always guaranteed. Also, know exactly what your reasons are for wanting to go Active because you may need to provide this in some form with all of your documents that you present to your Chain of Command. If all fails look into AGR once your a SPC or like others have stated wait until you ETS.
