A Veterans Tears
Tears of sorrow cried, for those who fought, those who died.
For bodies broken and minds torn. For babies with one parent born.
Tears of joy cried for a wonderful sight. Family and friends welcoming them after a long flight.
Tears of anger over another IED attack. The sight of comrades shot in the back.
Cut down by those claiming righteous reasons. With loyalties that change faster than the seasons.
Tears of relief to see units coming home. Headed for well earned relaxation.
Until the next time they are called by their nation.
Tears of frustration at prices climbing out of control. $3.00 milk and $4.00 gas taking their toll.
Bills left unpaid to keep food on the table. No civilian jobs, though they are willing and able.
They fought for you. They fought for us all. When the nation needed them they answered the call.
These heroes did not serve for money, glory, or fame you see.
Unlike the "heroes" we see in the movies, and sports on T.V.
The next time you see a veteran say "Thank you". After all they have given it the least you can do.
