A soldier that is not loyal to his/her partner can not be loyal to his/her buddies, unit, the Army and His country.

I disagree. One can be loyal to their country and still cheat on a spouse. One can be loyal to their unit and still end up breaking up with a partner.
With a 50% divorce rate, we have a very unloyal country.

While we disagree on this, I am curious why you would vote me down, and not all the others that also disagreed with you. That is why I voted you down

that is the problem with the mobile app..the computer has a second box that comes on to make sure you really wanted to vote down..the app needs that as well.

That isn't true. It depends on one's values and how much importance one places on each relationship. Personally speaking, I know that I only have one country and one unit (at any given time) and will always be loyal to them. As for partners? Meh... a guy can always be replaced and there are plenty of fish in the sea. This is not so with the Army.

SPC Shelby Thundercloud, The institution of marriage is the foundation of the family, community and Nation. When we start believing that dishonesty and disloyalty are ok in the marriage, then we are also advocating whether consciously or unconsciously that we can get away with it in our community and Nation, and more so with our Army. A disloyal and dishonest soldier at home is not a trustworthy soldier. Such soldier serve self. How can you selflessly defend your country when you are selfish towards the very one you have sworn to protect and defend. Isn't this ambiguous as far as loyalty is concerned?

1LT (Join to see), while marriage is the foundation of the family, I do not agree that it is necessarily the foundation of our nation or our military. Most of the best Soldiers with whom I've served have been divorced or single, and those who didn't have a family were able to forge a strong bond with battle buddies who became their family.
If you grew up as I did, with parents who divorced when I was young and never settled down again, you may not have the same ideals about marriage. I feel that loyalty in marriage requires much more discipline and will power than loyalty to our country. After all, it takes more than "one too many drinks" and a hard-on to to be disloyal to the U.S.

Sometimes if we have never been tried on a matter, it is so easy to talk about it. But loyalty in this case, I was addressing the case of soldiers who claim to love their nation but yet can easily give up on being loyal to their partners. Many can appear to be good workers and soldiers, but deep down if their peace of mind only rests on being good records, what is left when separated from the Army? I wasn't raised in a marriage either. But I still believe that loyalty starts at home, and then it is a contagious phenomen in everything else I do.

I also was not raised by two parents. I never really even had 1 parent to be totally honest. I think in society, marriage used to mean a lot more and is often exploited for financial gains today. I'm 31 yrs old and I have been married for over 10 yrs to my wife. I don't even know anyone else around me that hasn't had at least 2 wives/husbands. The whole dynamic of relationships and marriage is changing rapidly, and I can see that very few of the people I know or have known look at marriage the same as they did even 10 years ago. I am with my wife until I am dead. I know there are circumstances that cause a marriage to fail, but I don't think people take marriage seriously anymore. With all of this being said, I don't really think a soldiers relationship status can be used to make the determination of whether they are honest or not. Everything changes and this situation is no different.
