I got disqualified at MEPS today.. first for my heartrate, which is understandable bc I was nevervous. Everything else was fine.. until we did the Duck walk test. then the doctor referred me for a ADHD consult & spine check?! What can I do now?! Do I stand a chance of joining the Army?! What are consolations at MEPS like?!!

Cassie McGill - If I remember it right if there is a consult order, usually MEPS sets up for you to come back. So did MEPS do that or did the recruiter pull you out? did they also give you the paperwork?

second did you put any sort of answer on your questionnaire about loosing focus or if you have ever been in ADHD medication?

as far as the duck walk, they can actually see if you have deficiency in your spine therefore they will seek a consult is done ( ie x-rays ) then they will dq you if they see something wrong.

they didn’t send a day to come back, my recruiter is talking to his boss about if it’s worth the resources. I put nothing about having ADHD on the questionnaire. She just said it was the way I was standing up, but it could just be my posture.

Cassie McGill - then a consult will prove you won't have adhd .. your posture can determine a lot of things. What you can do is ask them what kinda of consult it is and you can go to a civilian doctor to find out what you have if anything, give the results back to the recruiter. If you want to be proactive

What if I have ADHD.. will they kick me out for good? & my recruiter said there’s no point to waste money bc the sheet literally only describes the heartbeat check, the rest just says psych & ortho consult. He says it’s bc they don’t want you trying to sneak out of it.

What the hell does a duck walk have to do with ADHD?

If you can get documentation detailing why they disqualified you and then see a civilian doctor to check things out, you may be able to bring documentation that clears you to go. Ultimately it's up to the Docs at MEPS though.

Consolations? I never got any consolations when I went to MEPS. A few door prizes and I won a raffle, but no consolations. Best of luck. Have you tried the Marines?
