Does anyone know if HRC still honor military swaps? Does swaps even exist in todays army? I have a battle buddy that was trying to get back to Fort Stewart and I was trying to get back to Fort Hood. We are the same rank, grade, and MOS. My branch manager (a civilian) told me they don't honor military swaps anymore and fail to show me in writing then insisted on saying he didn't have to show me anything. Does anyone have any input on this? I remember back in the day swaps were posted all over the Army times.

AR 614-200 Section II discusses Soldier-initated Assignments. Ch 5-11 is titled Exchange Assignments. The regulation is dated 26 Feb 09.

There have been a couple of discussion threads on this topic.  Bottom line is that you need to contact your specific Branch and see if they will consider an assignment swap.  I remember the ones posted on Army Times.  They were put up by individuals in the hopes that PERSCOM would play ball if the Soldier could find someone to swap with.  I am not sure if you will find anything "in writing" from HRC as a whole stating that swaps are no longer authorized.   If you do though, please post it here because there are a lot interested in the topic.  Good luck.
