Is a prior-service E-5, without BLC/WLC (wasn't required at the time I pinned SGT), able to come back in as an E-5?

@SGT Jamarl Jones. What is the rank on your DD214? What is the rank on your discharge orders form the IRR? I would have these two documents and then go speak with your local recruiter.

I can't give you a definite answer, as they factor a lot into Grade Determinations; however, I'm going through this right now.
I'm attempting to enlist in the Reserves as prior service. I ETS'd as an E-5 (also without BLC/WLC) in 2014 initially, then IRR with a 1 year contract from 2015-2016 in the Guard. So only 13ish months break in service as of right now. They came back saying that I could enlist as an E-5 after MEPS and everything again, currently waiting on that portion of the process.
A couple factors: I had to submit my NCOER's along with the grade determination packet. My recruiter also said that they most likely approved my E-5 because I am still within a 24 month window from when I ETS'd. I'll just have to attend WLC/BLC asap after I enlist if I want to keep my 5.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the input! The reality is that it would probably benefit me MORE to come back as an E-4 than an E-5. If I came back as an E-5, I would be stuck with having to re-class. If I came back as an E-4, based on my (limited) understanding of how it works, I would be able to come back as my current MOS.
I suspect a grade determination to keep my E-5 might not come back favorably since I haven't been on AD since 2013, although I have attended college since then, and I am close to finishing my BAS degree.
Were you offered your available MOS's before or after your grade determination?

No problem at all!
They advised me that they can't pull a prior service slot until I'm at MEPS due to the prior service reservations coming directly from the ROC. I have an idea of a couple of MOS's that I would like to choose from and am hoping that there's slots available when I get up there, but you never know. So we shall see! I'll let you know how the process goes when I go up there, which should be within the next week or so.
Long story short, if you're really wanting to do that then get started asap because I've been working on it since early December and its not a quick process. Good luck with everything!

SGT (Join to see) - What was your MOS? I thought you had to use the MOS's available under the PS business rules?

I was a 68W, looking to enlist under another 68 series MOS. I'm going into the Reserves as prior service; therefore the prior service business rules won't apply (since I'm not going Active). It'll just end up depending on which slots they have open at units near me.
