The challenges of doing the job of a Ranger haven't changed so why should training. Quit label us as "male soldiers" and "female soldiers". The term is "Soldier" and I think it should be one standard for all Soldiers in any school/training. Don't lower the standards to meet the desired numbers. I don't have a problem with women in combat but I want to fight next to someone that is as highly trained and as physically capable of doing what I do. I say no, don't change the standards. So when she makes it through Ranger school, she will be called a Ranger...not a Female Ranger.

Well said. I agree that it should be one standard across both sexes, and that standard should be what's currently the male standard. My views on gender issues are radically different between the civilian world and the martial. Our enemies aren't going to treat our women any different in combat so why should we train our women any different and allow inferiority out of them?

NO! As a Combat Engineer I have served with Female officers who have led Route Clearance Platoons they have completed all their soldiers tasks and have excelled in those situations. Their have been females completing Sapper School since 2000 and their standards haven't been changed. I feel females can pass it without changing any standards.

I agree 1SG Haro. I had 2 Engineer Captains go threw my SLC Class. 1 of the females absolutely sucked!!! However the other female was AMAZING!! She could pitch an OPORDER like a professor in college. She was a PT Stud and had Airborne, Air Assault, and Pathfinder. She was going to be taking command of the Engineer Search and Rescue unit in DC. I don't know why so many men seem to believe that there are no females out there who can complete Ranger School. I guess I cant say much Because im not a Ranger... however I am very much looking forward to that first Ranger Tab being pined on a Female.

Creating a separate inferior set of standards for women would only serve to diminish that individuals quality of training and the respect any female tab recipient would get after earning it.
"Oh sure, you've got the tab, but you didn't REALLY earn it like everyone else."
Coming from a guy who's never been to Ranger School, I thought the entire idea of it was to push you somewhere between beyond your limits and death. That it was meant to prepare you for combat leadership by teaching you where your TRUE limits are. To me, that doesn't sound like it's something that can be half assed, and I'm pretty sure combat doesn't set different standards for women.
